Hales Home Care staff win cash prizes in first annual awards event

National domiciliary provider Hales Home Care has held its first Hales Care Awards ceremony to celebrate and recognise the best of the best amongst its staff.

Following the success of its monthly Hales Heroes Awards, the provider decided to bring staff members from its 25 branches together for an annual awards event to champion outstanding care.

More than 300 nominations from carers, office staff and services users were received for the 2019 awards, and after reviewing each nomination, a panel of judges shortlisted 15 people.

Four people were then chosen as the winners, each of whom won a certificate, trophy and a £1,000 cash prize.

Amanda Gilding from the Old Maltings branch in Norfolk won the Deliver Personal Approach Award.

Hales Registered Scheme Manager Alison Kingston-Miles commented on her win: “She deserves this award for the time and commitment she shows all our service users. Amanda goes above and beyond, organising functions after her working day – she does this voluntarily and with compassion and empathy to all.”

Alison went on to say that the awards ceremony has made her team feel “valued” and part of a bigger organisation.

“Some of us have worked with other organisations in the past and have always been made to feel like the poor relations, whereas Hales value every member of staff, and it shows. Having Hales Managing Director Nicola Mewse over to present the award was a huge morale booster.”

The other accolades went to Kathryn Sate (pictured) from the Scunthorpe branch in Lincolnshire, winner of the Empower Trust Award; Christine Hamilton from the Thetford branch in Norfolk, winner of the Professional Excellence Award; and Lesley Anderson from the Stevenage branch in Hertfordshire, winner of the Champion Change Award.
