Sarah Hedley-Booth Takes on the Bantham Boomerang in Support of Level Water

In July, Sarah Hedley-Booth, a member of the Emergency Duty Team in Leeds, will be taking on the Bantham Boomerang, an annual open water swimming event organised by Level Water.

About Level Water

Level Water is a UK charity that provides one-to-one swimming lessons for children with disabilities, helping them build confidence, independence and essential life skills in the water. The charity works in partnership with pools and swim schools across the country to fund and deliver personalised lessons tailored to each child’s needs, with the aim of helping them progress into mainstream group sessions over time.

By removing barriers to accessing swimming lessons, Level Water is working to ensure every child has the opportunity to learn to swim and experience the physical, social and emotional benefits it brings.

Taking on the Bantham Boomerang

The Bantham Boomerang is an annual open water swimming event organised by Level Water, held in Bantham, Devon. As the swim is tide-led, the distance can vary depending on conditions, typically ranging from 3–8km.

The event forms part of Level Water’s Swim Collective series, with many participants fundraising to help provide one-to-one swimming lessons for children with disabilities across the UK. By taking part, swimmers are helping more children learn to swim and build confidence in the water.

Sarah Hedley-Booth, a member of our Leeds Emergency Duty Team, shared:

“I’m taking on the Bantham Boomerang to support Level Water, a charity that provides one-to-one swimming lessons for children with disabilities. For many of these children, access to swimming isn’t straightforward yet it’s a life-saving skill, a huge confidence builder, and a source of joy and independence.”
