“Completing my Level 5 is something I am extremely proud of.”
Katie Royston, Registered Manager at Hales Homecare Rotherham, has successfully completed her Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Adult Care, a recognised adult social care qualification for managers leading high-quality homecare services.
Commenting on her achievement, Katie shared:
“I have worked for Hales for the past 6 years and during that time I have been encouraged and supported to continue my professional development. Completing my Level 5 is something I am extremely proud of. It has shown me that with dedication, hard work and the right support, there is always an opportunity to grow and achieve your goals.”
A career built in care
From Care Assistant to Registered Manager, Katie has continued to learn, take on new responsibilities and build her career with confidence.
Having worked in the care sector for 18 years, I have dedicated my career to supporting others and developing my skills. I have worked my way up through various roles to become a Registered Manager, so achieving this qualification feels like an important milestone in that journey.
Care is skilled work
Stories like Katie’s prove that social care is a skilled profession and that, with the right support, investment and development opportunities, people can build rewarding, long-term careers while making a difference to other people’s lives.
Speaking on the first episode of the Let’s Talk Podcast, Nicola Mewse, Hales Group Managing Director, said care workers must be recognised as skilled professionals and supported through nationally recognised, standardised and funded training and qualifications.
Katie’s success demonstrates the incredible career opportunities available in social care. As the Care Workforce Pathway continues to evolve, it’s vital we recognise care as the skilled profession it is.
At Hales Group, we support colleagues to develop through funded qualifications, ongoing learning and support. Whether someone is taking their first step into care or preparing for leadership, we want them to understand the opportunities available and feel encouraged to take the next step when the time is right for them.
As our population ages and demand for care continues to rise, developing a skilled, confident and well-supported workforce has never been more important.
Supporting colleagues like Katie to achieve recognised qualifications not only strengthens our services but also helps build the future leaders our sector needs. – Nicola Mewse
