What inspired me to work in care is my love for looking after people, making a difference in their lives, and bringing a bit of positivity to their day. I really enjoy having a good chat and making people laugh.Â
I started my career in care when I was 17, working in care homes, and soon found my passion for domiciliary care in the early 2000s. I joined Hales because I wanted opportunities for self-development and to be part of a bigger organisation that shares my values. Â
Career pathwayÂ
I started out as a Support Worker and fell into the management side of things by chance when my manager asked me to help in the office. Just a few weeks later, I was offered a role as a Care Coordinator.Â
Not long after that, we had a CQC inspection, and it was the inspectors who suggested I should be the Registered Manager. I was very green when I started, but I picked it up quickly and haven’t looked back since.Â
