Anti-Slavery Day – Together Against Slavery

15 October | By

What is Anti-Slavery Day?

Anti-Slavery Day takes place every year on 18th October to raise awareness about the urgent need to eradicate all forms of slavery, human trafficking, and exploitation. It is part of Anti-Slavery Week, a UK and European awareness initiative. This year, the week runs from 14th to 20th October 2024.

Did you know? An estimated 50 million people are living in modern slavery today. This figure has risen by 10 million since the Global Slavery Index was last published in 2018. Global issues such as conflict, climate change, and authoritarian regimes have heightened risks, leaving more people vulnerable to exploitation.

This year’s theme – #TogetherAgainstSlavery – encourages action and highlights how businesses can address modern slavery risks in their operations and supply chains.

To mark Anti-Slavery Week, Hales Group is taking action by:

  • Educating managers through webinars on how to recognise signs of modern slavery.
  • Raising awareness on social media to shed light on the ongoing impact of modern slavery.
  • Reinforcing our Modern Slavery Policy across the business, showing our commitment to a safe and ethical workplace for all.
  • Promoting vigilance in our supply chains and engaging in meaningful conversations with our suppliers to ensure the highest standards of ethical practice in all our purchases.
  • Together, we can inspire action and work towards a world free from slavery. Get involved and learn more about the #TogetherAgainstSlavery campaign: https://www.stronger2gether.org
